Senator Jon Husted, a Republican representing Ohio in the U.S. Senate, criticized Senate Democrats over their stance on voter identification requirements in a series of posts on March 26 and 27, 2026.
On March 26, Husted stated, “Senate Democrats showed today that they don’t support election integrity.” Later that day, he elaborated on the issue of photo identification for voting: “Senate Democrats say they support photo ID to vote. So I gave them a clean amendment to prove it. They all voted no.”
Continuing his criticism into the next day, Husted posted: “Requiring an ID to vote is just common sense. More than 80% of Americans agree—yet every single Senate Democrat voted against my amendment to require a photo ID to vote in our elections.”
Senator Husted serves on several Senate committees focused on health, education, labor and pensions, small business and entrepreneurship, environment and public works, and aging (official website). Before joining the U.S. Senate, he held roles as Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, Ohio secretary of state and lieutenant governor (official website). During his career in public service, he has emphasized tax reductions and educational choice scholarships and defended voter roll integrity before the U.S. Supreme Court (official website).
