Cleveland Institute Of Music issued the following announcement on Sept. 25.
We are saddened to share the news that long-time faculty and staff member Bruce Egre lost his valiant battle with cancer. In addition to his posts at CIM, Egre founded Azica Records, a Cleveland-based record company, worked with The Cleveland Orchestra’s engineering staff for 30 years, and won a Grammy in 2015 (celebratory photo, below). Yesterday, during CIM’s annual meeting, Egre was named a CIM Faculty Emeritus.
Although we hoped to honor him in person, during the meeting, we celebrated his advocacy for artistic adventure and the major impact he has had on the Institute and the staff, students and faculty he worked alongside.
