WEST PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL: Your pet ate Halloween candy! What do you do next?

Pet(1000)

West Park Animal Hospital issued the following announcement on Oct 26.

Your pet ate Halloween candy! What do you do next?

1. Call Animal Poison Control 888-426-4435

WHY? - Although we know how to treat toxicity, there are so many types and brands of candy out there it makes it impossible to know how to treat every type of toxicity. APC can direct you on the next steps you have to take and how we can best treat your pet!

2. Follow instructions from Animal Poison Control

WHY? - APC may be able to save you a trip to the Emergency Room. If your pet ate something considered either non-toxic or something very toxic, APC can inform you if your pet is considered emergent or if you can just monitor from home. If they recommend you come into the hospital we will be here for you! Just give us a call to let us know you are on your way!

3. Keep your candy up and away!

WHY? - Although we LOVE to see your pets, we hope to not see them in our emergency room on Halloween Night.
