CIM Unveils the ‘CIM Tuition Promise’

6

Cleveland Institute of Music recently issued the following announcement.

The Cleveland Institute of Music already guarantees a world-class musical education. Now it’s committing to transparent pricing, too.

On Thursday, March 24, President and CEO Paul W. Hogle announced the CIM Tuition Promise, which offers all incoming students the certainty that their base tuition rate will not increase over the normal course of their degree. The promise takes effect Friday, April 1, 2022, and applies to new students heading into the 2022-23 academic year.

“This is another major step in CIM’s move toward greater access and affordability in top-tier conservatory education,” Hogle said. “With the CIM Tuition Promise, we renew our commitment to the future of classical music, promising CIM students that they can study with the confidence that their tuition will not increase during their program.”

As Hogle notes, the Promise is only the latest move by the Institute to address in a meaningful way the financial burden of a world-class musical education. In 2018, concerned about escalating costs across the country, CIM took a step unprecedented among independent conservatories and top tier schools of music in the US and lowered tuition 15 percent. Since then, tuition has been held flat for four consecutive years. Today’s announcement further sets CIM apart from its conservatory and top tier music program peers as the only school to make this commitment.

The CIM Tuition Promise helps students and families plan with confidence.

The Promise joins other CIM strategies designed to improve access and affordability. In addition to this pledge, the school offers many partial and full-ride scholarships, including the recently announced Lola M. and Bruce F. Rothmann Dean’s Scholarship for Piano, as well as a wide range of grants, loans and work study programs. CIM’s new preparatory training program, the Academy, provides free tuition for Black and Latinx students via the Musical Pathway Fellowship.
