New webpage, information sessions to provide information on changes
Case Western Reserve is launching a new performance review process designed to provide staff with guidance that is both broader and more actionable for their development as professionals.
The process becomes effective July 1; Human Resources will launch a recorded Canvas training course next month, and begin offering information sessions about the changes in June. In addition, the division already has created a webpage with information, FAQs and downloadable documents.
The result of extensive work by a cross-campus committee during 2018-2019, the process was subsequently piloted by the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences to inform the university-wide implementation.
COVID-19’s arrival in the spring of 2020 required Human Resources to delay campus-wide implementation. After the university imposed a salary freeze for the following fiscal year, officials elected to postpone the full launch until raises resumed.
“The system taking effect in July includes several new categories of evaluations,” Vice President for Human Resources Carolyn Gregory said. “We felt that having the opportunity for pay increases was important for employees to see a clearer connection between their efforts in these areas and the salaries received in the following year.”
Gregory added that last month’s announcement from the president and provost that the merit raise pool for staff will be 4% makes the timing of the new process even more promising.
