Notre Dame College sports alumni are giving an assist to current scholar-athletes in the first-ever Falcon Team Scholarship Challenge.
This two-week contest pits each squad of graduates against all the other team sports at the College to see which can garner the most support for athletic scholarships. Participation rather than gift size is the measure.
Bragging rights and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.
Athletic alumni can compete through Wednesday, June 15. Donations designated for a specific sport can be made via Venmo @NDCDonate. Monthly, recurring gifts also can be made on the College website at Falcon Team Scholarship Challenge. Coaches are reaching out to their athletic alumni to generate within sport peer-to-peer challenges, too.
All contributions are 100 percent tax deductible, and all monies raised will support scholarships for the identified team.
The Falcon Team Scholarship Challenge dares alumni of each sport at the College to provide a player assist and pay forward the support they received in their sport to current and incoming members of the team.
More than half of the undergraduate students at Notre Dame participate in varsity sports. Men’s sports are baseball, basketball, football, golf, rugby, swimming and diving and wrestling. Women’s athletics are acrobatics and tumbling, basketball, bowling, golf, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, softball, swimming and diving and volleyball. The College also supports cheerleading and mascot spirit programs.
In addition to wins, rankings and championships, Notre Dame scholar-athletes volunteer in the community and raise money for special causes throughout the year. The athletic program overall was an NCAA Award of Excellence finalist, most recently, in 2021.
