The Golden Flashes men's and women's basketball teams get their 2022-23 season started on Thursday, October 27th for their annual pre-season showcase as part of Halloweekent for the Golden Flashes.
Doors to the M.A.C. Center open at 6:30 p.m. with the basketball showcase starting at 7:30 p.m. Ahmaad Crump, the in-arena voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers, is scheduled to host the event.
Halloweekent hoops is free and open to the public with children invited to trick-or-treat throughout the M.A.C. Center at stations hosted by Kent State athletic teams from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Donors and season ticket holders are invited to tour the new Scolin MacLean Lounge. A special guest Steve Sefner, author of "The Golden Dream: The story of the 2001-2002 Kent State Men's Basketball Elite Eight Season", will be on site for a book signing. Fans in attendance can take advantage of special ticket deals for men's and women's basketball in advance of the start of the season and will have an opportunity to see what chair back seats are still available for season tickets.
The basketball events begin at 7:30 p.m., with intros from Head Men's Coach Rob Senderoff and Head Women's Coach Todd Starkey. The teams will participate in on-court activities including shooting contests, a dunk contest and skills challenges. Fans are encouraged to dress up and participate in the costume contest and will have chances to win prizes and participate in the festivities throughout the evening.
Halloweekent is a full weekend of events starting on Wednesday with the Flash Talk Coaches' Show live at Water Street Tavern at 5:30 p.m. The women's soccer team closes the regular season on Thursday hosting Buffalo at 3 p.m., directly leading into the hoops festivities. On Friday, October 28, Field Hockey hosts Bellarmine at 3:00 p.m., followed by volleyball hosting NIU at 6:00 p.m. The final event is Saturday, October 29 with volleyball playing host to Western Michigan at 4:00 p.m.
