Men's Soccer Earns Hard Fought Win Against Otterbein

On Wednesday evening, the Blue Streaks traveled down south for another Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) competition, taking on the prestigious Otterbein University Cardinals, a usual competitor in the conference.

After a tough loss to Ohio Northern on Saturday night, Wenzler's Warriors are turning it to overdrive to finish the season strong with the final four games. With a surprising undefeated streak of away matches this year.

Peak brisk October weather for the action, and the match was underway. Some good back and forth action kicked it off before John Carroll would quickly jump in front.

Off of a corner, the ball fell to Hayden Haffner. The junior would take a touch, to the right, and hit a lovely volley from nearly 12 yards out into the back of the net to give the Blue Streaks a prominent 1-0 advantage early on.

The rest of the first half returned back to a well-balanced state, both teams firing a few chances before the whistle blew for the half.

At the break, JCU held a 7-4 advantage in the shot column and Jake Vogrin recorded two saves for the Blue and Gold.

Within the last minute, John Carroll would capitalize and seal the deal. After a close call in the Blue Streaks' defensive third, the ball would fly up to Patrick Koenig. Koenig quickly played a ball through behind the defense for Michael Burrington, as he would took it the rest of the way

With a huge win under their belt, the Blue Streaks maintain a strong standing in the OAC, staying close behind Ohio Northern University as they picked up a close 2-1 win over Wilmington College.

The Blue Streaks will be on the road once again on Saturday to take on Capital University at 1 p.m.
