The College Sports Communicators (CSC) have released the men's soccer Academic All-America® Teams and for the first time since 2013, Notre Dame College has multiple players listed. Goalkeeper Pedro Alves was given Second Team honors, while midfielder Taylor Dyson was named to the Third Team. (Release)
Alves earns the Academic All-America® award after posting a 3.95 GPA as a business management major. The junior played over 1,760 minutes in goal for NDC, which is 12th highest among goalkeeper in Division II. His eight shutouts this season puts him at No. 10 in the country in that category and he is tied for eighth in program history for shutouts in a season. He also made 46 saves and won 13 games.
The native of Sao Paulo, Brazil has also earned CSC Academic All-District honors and All-MEC Second Team for his work this season.
A finance major with a 3.59 GPA, Dyson also takes his first Academic All-America® honor. The Manchester, England native led the Falcons this past season with 12 goals, 14 assists and 38 points. He ended the year ranked first in the MEC in points and assists and second in goals. Throughout Division II, Dyson ranks sixth in total assists, seventh in assists per game (0.64) and eighth in total points. In terms of NDC single-season records, Dyson was second in assists, seventh in shots on goal and 10th in points. In MEC single-season history, he ranks second in assists.
Since the end of the regular season, Dyson, a sophomore, has been named All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and the United Soccer Coaches, along with All-Atlantic Region First Team by both the D2CCA and the USC. On top of that, the CSC gave him an Academic All-District® award. He took home First Team All-Mountain East Conference and MEC All-Tournament Team.
Prior to this season, the last Falcon to be named Academic All-American by the CSC was Daniele De Angelis in 2019.
