Ellis awarded as MEC Player of the Week

After a career-defining week, Notre Dame College redshirt sophomore Alana Ellis has been named the Mountain East Conference's Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan. This marks the first time in her career winning the award, as she is the first NDC Falcon since Tamia Ridley on Feb. 7, 2021 to garner the honor.

On Wednesday, the Twinsburg, Ohio native scored a game-high 22 points, to go along with four rebounds and three steals during NDC's narrow loss at Davis & Elkins.

On Saturday, the Twinsburg High School product generated a career-high 35 points on an efficient 14 of 26 from the floor. Ellis' 35 points scored are tied for the seventh-most in a game in NDC program history. Moreover, her 14 field goals made, tied the program record which was set by Amanda Blazetic back on Jan. 31, 2004.

In addition, Ellis netted 18 of her 35 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, including the game-tying three-point field goal before the end of regulation. As a result of Ellis' clutch shot and career-night, Notre Dame came-from-behind to beat WVWC, 75-65 in OT.

NDC's leading scorer averaged 28.5 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game this week.

Alana Ellis and the Notre Dame College women's basketball team will be back in action on Thursday Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. for an exhibition game at the University of Akron. Next, the Falcons will travel to Florida to face the University of Tampa on Sunday Dec. 18 at 3 p.m.
