Cleveland State Wrestling Takes Care of Lake Erie, 36-9

The Vikings (2-2) opened the second half of their season with a 36-9 road victory at Lake Erie College on Friday evening. With the win, the Green and White get back to .500 on the year in dual matches and collect their second straight victory.

Cleveland State started the evening strong with a 16-0 tech fall by Ben Aranda at 125-pounds and a Cody Moosman fall at 133-pounds to lead 11-0.

Lake Erie answered back with a fall and a decision to close the gap to 11-9. However, Marcus Robinson swung the momentum back to the Vikings with a takedown in the final seconds to prevail, 7-5, as the lead stood at 14-9.

Daniel Patten then picked up a 7-2 decision at 165-pounds and a forfeit at 174-pounds stretched the advantage to 23-9.

Gabe Phillips extended the lead to 26-9 after recording a 9-2 decision at 184-pounds and a 16-6 major decision by Joey Lyons at 197-pounds made it 30-9 in favor of Cleveland State.

The Vikings secured the 36-9 victory after Daniel Bucknavich received a forfeit at 285-pounds to win the match 36-9.
