This Week: Notre Dame College wrestling heads to Elkins, W.Va. to take on Davis & Elkins College in a Mountain East Conference dual meet on Jan. 8, with a 1 p.m. start time. This will be the first dual for the Falcons since they participated in the Glenville State Duals on Nov. 5.

Records: At the Glenville State Duals to start the season, Notre Dame put together a record of 2-3. The Falcons faced Davis & Elkins that weekend, defeating the Senators 33-17. Davis & Elkins is currently 2-8 in duals this season. On Dec. 12, D&E defeated Bluefield State, 38-14, and then got revenge on Emory & Henry with a 37-18 victory on Dec. 16, after falling to E&H at the Glenville State Duals.

Coaches Corner: Jordon Tague enters his first season at the helm of the NDC wrestling program. Andrew Colborn is making the calls at Davis & Elkins.

Rankings: Notre Dame is receiving votes in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division II poll. Individually, Cale Hoskinson is No. 11 in the country at 157 lbs. and La'Ron Parks is back in the rankings, taking No. 11 at heavyweight. The Open Mat also released its individual rankings with Matthew Kauffman at No. 19 in the 149 lbs. weight class, Hoskinson is No. 8 at 157 and Parks is ranked 12th at heavyweight.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame had some very encouraging performances in the final three opens that the team competed in, prior to the holiday break. Cale Hoskinson took first place at 165 lbs. at the King Open and Storm Open, while also placing seventh, at 157 lbs., in a tough bracket at the Midwest Classic. La'Ron Parks took first place at 285 lbs., while competing at the King Open and then placed seventh at the Midwest Open. He grabbed a spot in the latest national rankings for the first time since the beginning of the season.

At the Glenville State duals to start the campaign, Matthew Kauffman went 5-0, including a victory over D&E's Corbin Saul at 149. Cale Hoskinson went 4-0 at 165, which included a pin of Bradden Galassi (Davis & Elkins).

Noting the Senators: Davis & Elkins is looking to build off the momentum they built in December, winning twice in the final two weeks of the first half of the season. The Senators went 0-4 at the Glenville State Duals to begin the 2022-23 season. Against NDC that weekend, Jacob Sweitzer won with a pin at 184, which was the only non-forfeit victory for the Senators.
