The Kent State men's basketball team (13-3, 3-0 MAC) travels to Athens to face the Ohio Bobcats (9-7, 1-2 MAC) on Friday, Jan. 13. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. inside the Convocation Center and can be watched on the CBS Sports Network. 

The Flashes are on a seven-game win streak and are the only team who remains undefeated in the Mid-American Conference. The Flashes won two of the last three meetings against the Bobcats with the last matchup being in the semifinals for the MAC Tournament.

Coming off an energetic win against the Toledo Rockets, the Flashes had multiple players that contributed to the success of the offense. Miryne Thomas and Malique Jacobs had double-doubles, while Sincere Carry added 21 points. Thomas also recorded two season highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Carry leads the Flashes on offense averaging 17.5 points and 4.8 assists per game. He ranks second in the MAC with 4.8 assists per game and has been in the MAC's top-10 scoring list. Kent State averages 74.8 points per game, .436 from the field, .341 from three, and .765 from the line. The Flashes also average 35.1 rebounds a game, 12.3 assists and 10.1 steals a game.

 The Flashes have turned up the heat defensively, over the past 3 games allowing 67 points per game in back-to-back victories. Great team defense accompanied by sensational individual performances has the Flashes at the top of the MAC with a 3-0 start. 

Scouting the Bobcats

The Ohio Bobcats (9-7) are looking to stay undefeated on their home court after their first conference win against Ball State on Tuesday. Despite Kent State winning the past two matchups, Ohio leads the all-time series, 97-56.

In their most recent game against the Cardinals, guard Jaylin Hunter shot nearly perfectly from the field (5-for-6) and the three-point line (4-for-5), combining for a career-high of 23 points. Forward Dwight Wilson III recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Wilson averages 10 rebounds and shoots 58 percent from the field, proving to be an offensive and defensive threat. Going into Friday night's game, Wilson is ranked third in the MAC for both categories.

The Bobcats are averaging 77.1 points per game and 3.9.3 rebounds a game. The Bobcats are also shooting 45 percent from the field, 37 percent from the three, and 71 percent from the line.

Next up, Kent State will be in Ypsilanti, Mich. to face Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, Jan. 17. It can be watched on ESPN+ or listened to on 850 ESPN Cleveland. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
