We’re officially in the thick of winter in Cleveland, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay huddled indoors. Your social schedule can be full year round here in The Land, with opportunities to explore notable spots and little-known gems during February.
Whether you’re invigorated by the cold temperatures or would rather stay inside until spring, there’s something to keep you busy. We put together a short list with a few options the Case Western Reserve community can explore this month.
Cleveland Bazaar Valentine’s Day events
Feb. 5 and Feb. 11
Searching for the perfect Valentine’s gift for a loved one or friend? Make it more meaningful by supporting a local artist at Cleveland Bazaar’s Valentine’s Day events Sunday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 78th Street Studios in the Gordon Square Arts District and Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Lake Affect Studios downtown.
At the 78th Street Studios event, more than 100 makers and artists will have work available, including candles, cards and paper goods, food products, clothing and accessories, ceramics and more. You can also make a date of it with a Valentine photo session and brunch.
The Lake Affect Studio event also will feature a variety of artists and makers alongside food trucks.

Cleveland Cocoa Run and Ice Fest at North Coast Harbor
Feb. 11
Warm up at the inaugural Cleveland Cocoa Run Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. around North Coast Harbor. At the end of this 5K and one-mile fun run, participants will receive a warm cup of hot cocoa. Awards will be given for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K in addition to top finishers in several age groups. Sign up for the run.
Not much of a runner? Skip that part and head to the Ice Fest from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. to see elaborate ice sculptures and carving demonstrations. Warm up around fire pits, roast smores, try out “SnowGa” and round out the day by watching a fire performance by the Ohio Burn Unit.

Accelerate 2023
Feb. 23
Hear about the most innovative ideas coming from the Cleveland community during the Accelerate 2023 pitch competition Thursday, Feb. 23, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.
During this event, members of the local community will pitch their ideas to improve the region in several categories: Cleveland experiences and excursions, economic prosperity, education, health and wellbeing, quality of life, and social change. A separate “technovision” category and teen competition will be part of the event.
