CLEVELAND, OH – Over 300 constituents attended Congresswoman Shontel Brown’s (OH-11) Small Business Expo Saturday at the Jerry Sue Thornton Center at Cuyahoga Community College. The event featured Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman and officials from the SBA, as well as representatives from state and local agencies. Congresswoman Brown also announced the formation of her Small Business Advisory Council at the Expo.

During the Expo, attendees could register their businesses as either a Sole Proprietorship or an LLC. The event also highlighted the financial tools and resources available to historically underserved small businesses in Northeast Ohio.

"Everyone deserves equitable access to the privileges and prosperity gained from engaging in our nation’s economy,” said Congresswoman Shontel Brown. “There is so much talent, innovation, and drive here in Northeast Ohio and we must tap into it to build an economy that works for everyone. That starts with making sure that people have access to guidance and support, which is what our Small Business Expo is all about – delivering resources to where people are.”

“With nearly 12 million new small business applications filed under the Biden-Harris Administration, America’s entrepreneurial spirit is soaring,” said Administrator Guzman. “We are building on President Biden’s Investing in America agenda by expanding the SBA’s outreach to historically underserved communities to ensure that anyone, regardless of their background, has the skills, tools, and access to capital needed to make their dreams of small business ownership a reality. Events like the Small Business Expo play an integral role in helping entrepreneurs identify SBA resources that can help them start and grow on a level playing field.”
